Joy on the Rise
Happiness is . . . a tummyful of hotpot. An inside joke with friends. An unexpected bonus. The rush of a deadline met. It isn’t wrong to strive for happiness—but happiness is anchored on “outside” things we can’t control.
Kathrin is an illustrator who works on storybooks and other book-related projects. A visual storyteller at heart, Kathrin loves to capture stories about life, faith, and all the tenderness that comes with it.
When she is not busy working on client-based projects, she can be found creating picture books with Shadow Stories and designing merchandise and stationeries for Trinket By Kath.
Kathrin is based in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The experience of mental illness can be incredibly isolating–not only for the one who’s suffering, but for their loved ones too. Grief, helplessness, confusion and even anger are common feelings for carers. What’s worse is feeling cut off from loved ones by the very waves of despair that threaten to drown them.
On International Women’s Day, inspiring stories abound of women who have changed the world. For most of us, these stories and achievements probably sound unattainable. We live ordinary lives; our quiet hurts, flaws, and brokenness invisible to most of the world.
For those among us dealing with grief, loneliness, and depression, the joy of the festivities can put a spotlight on our inner darkness.
And yet . . . perhaps that pain is exactly the place where our Emmanuel longs to meet us.
YMI (which stands for Why Am I?), is a platform for Christian young people all over the world to ask questions about life and discover their true purpose. We are a community with different talents but the same desire to make sense of God’s life-changing word in our everyday lives.
YMI is a part of Our Daily Bread Ministries.
