Dealing With the Aftermath of a Bad Breakup
On the surface, we might’ve looked like a happily-in-love couple, but beneath this façade were fears, misunderstandings, anger, and doubts built up due to silent treatments and unresolved arguments.
We are writers from all over the world who desire to make sense of God's unchanging word amid an ever changing world. We want to share our experiences of applying God's word in our lives and make our lives count for the one who gave life to us. Join our community. Write to contribute@ymi.today.

“When is Wati’s last day?” I asked my husband, frustrated.
I knew that Wati, the domestic helper my husband had hired, would not be leaving anytime soon, but I wanted my husband to know that I was annoyed with him for hiring her without my consent.
I once talked to a mother whose child had autism, and she told me of a heart-breaking experience. The mum had brought her child to Sunday school, but the child’s behaviour had upset the other mums whose kids were in the same class.
Many remain hesitant to talk about politics and other uncomfortable issues such as money and sex. But the tragedy is when most of us end up discussing these topics without a God-honouring biblical perspective.
Christians are to be people who think differently, who have a spiritual (Romans 8:5-6) or heavenly mindset (Colossians 3:2). We give our mind to how we can worship God and put the needs of others before our own in all the decisions of life, rather than the selfish pursuits of the “flesh”.
I was working one day when I experienced a severe chest pain that would subside if I held my breath.
It hit me one afternoon, that feeling that I couldn’t keep going on anymore. The intense weight of the expectations—both my own and those from other people—felt so heavy that I believed the only way out was to end my life.
The year I turned 24, I became virtually deaf. I was talking to my family one night when I realised that I could only pick out two or three words in a sentence. The doctors diagnosed me with sensorineural hearing loss.
In 2018, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, a type of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The doctor told me that there was no cure.
Knowing that I had to live with this for the rest of my life became a burden.
YMI (which stands for Why Am I?), is a platform for Christian young people all over the world to ask questions about life and discover their true purpose. We are a community with different talents but the same desire to make sense of God’s life-changing word in our everyday lives.
YMI is a part of Our Daily Bread Ministries.
