2 Corinthians 9:7 says, “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
Thinking through this has helped me. If I find that I am giving with reluctance, I can confidently release myself from doing so. But if that’s the case, why give at all?
