Description: Palm Sunday not only marks Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem (Matthew 21:1-11), but also His first steps towards the cross. 

In the crowds’ minds, as they waved palm fronds 🌿 crying “Hosanna!” (“Save us!”), they had pictured a Jesus who’d fight with them and set them free from the Romans.

But when His plan turned out to be different from what they had in mind, they turned their backs on Him, betrayed and crucified Him. 

Jesus had a long-term plan in mind when He rode into Jerusalem. He came to save those who’d put their trust in Him, giving them eternal life in His enduring Kingdom in Heaven.

Jesus wasn’t in the business of conquering nations, but of winning hearts and minds.

As we reflect on His journey to the cross this Palm Sunday, we’re also reminded that Jesus is more than just our Saviour and King. Who has Jesus been to you?
