Description: In some circles, it’s been said that theological arguments are more beneficial for the Christians than the people we’re trying to reach with the gospel.
Perhaps because we are afraid that we might not be able to give a coherent answer for our faith to the watching world, Christians like us feel like we need to present the gospel in an intellectually airtight manner too.
When Peter mentioned that we should always be prepared to give an answer for our hope (1 Peter 3:15-16), he wasn’t only referring to an exercise in defending our faith with sound argument. He was urging us to consider our right relationship with God that naturally makes us think, speak and act differently.
While sound arguments are definitely important, the reason for our Christian hope finds its source in our right relationship with God and our witness as God’s transformative work first.
