Description: Through technological and scientific advancements, we humans, have seemingly managed to attain god-like qualities such as power, knowledge, and presence. But while we may not contend with the issue of whether god exists, the question of “who do you believe is God” remains unresolved.

The Existence of Being seeks to provoke viewers to question who God is to them and who they are in relation to Him by depicting God using the imagery of clouds, set against the image of status and power in the form of a man in a suit.

Artist Feature | Joses Pang

Being an artist was something I have always wanted. I have been drawing since I was very young, and art was something that was encouraged in my family. My late grandfather was an artist, and my aunt was also an art teacher. I’m currently studying at LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts.

I like to see my works as a point of reflection for myself and the viewers. Hence, I often talk about relatable themes or cultures that lead us to think about our own lives in relation to those ideas. I think, as with all artists, we want to raise questions for all to think about. As a Christian artist, I’ve learned to constantly remind myself what my calling is, and why I’ve been chosen to walk this path as an artist. Through my art, I hope to be able to plant seeds in the hearts of everyone.
