Typography: Jeremiah 9:24

Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practises steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.” (Jeremiah 9:23-24)

What do you want to be remembered for when you die? How would others sum up your life? Will you be remembered as someone who lived to climb the corporate ladder, chased after adventures, took pride in your earthly achievements–or someone whose heart’s desire was simply to know and understand God, to search out the mysteries of God, and to live out His commands?

Let’s choose wisely, while we can.

PRAY:
Father, I confess it’s often hard to prioritise what’s most important in this life–knowing You. Remind me that when the things of this life crumble or fade away, You will still remain. Help me to set aside my earthly ambitions and all the things I take pride in, and make knowing and loving You my main occupation.
