God owns everything. We need not fear losing people or things for they are not ours to begin with. Often it’s our possessiveness, attachment to things or people, that causes us to worry about how long we can hold on to them and what we need to do to keep them at all cost.

But remembering that God owns everything makes us humbly grateful for what we have, rightly seeing God as the generous Giver and Provider. This knowledge also keeps us from envying others, as they too don’t own what’s only placed in their care.
