Be openhanded, freely lend the poor whatever they need. (Ref. Deuteronomy 15:8)

Typography: Deuteronomy 15:8

Giving to others can be hard when we feel we don’t have enough to begin with.

It requires us to put ourselves in a less advantageous position for the good of someone else—which goes against our natural tendency to look after ourselves.

There is always an element of trust when we obey the Lord by giving, especially if we are afraid of losing out. It takes seeing, over and over, how God has freely given to us, for us to gain the courage to freely give to others.
