“If my faith’s perfect, then…”
“God, grant me perfect faith.”
“If I had stronger faith, I can get through this.”
How many of us think that if only we had a faith made of steel, it would make facing certain things in life a bit easier?
But Hebrews 12:1 tells us that while our faith may be imperfect, Jesus is the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. He will look after us, care for us, and sustain our faith, even in the depths of our deepest struggles. We’ve also a “great cloud of witnesses” (v. 1) cheering us on as we head towards the finishing line, with our gazes fixed on Jesus.
Ultimately, no matter how our race ends, we know that when Jesus endured the cross for us, He has crossed the finishing line on our behalf.
Jesus, even though my faith is frail, I know I can count on you to have my back. You are the pioneer and perfecter of my faith, and You care for me. Thank you for running this race alongside me.
