Typography: Isaiah 61:1

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners. Isaiah 61:1

How many of us find ourselves crawling just to get through each day, feeling like we’re not truly free? Whether it’s getting frustrated with work, worrying about what others think of us, or struggling to ward off boredom and restlessness, we often don’t feel free and empowered.

Yet when we look at the promises attached to Jesus’s coming—healing, freedom, light, comfort, beauty, joy—we are reminded that He has made all of this possible. But in order for us to claim these gifts, Jesus asks us to give up our fickle loves and feeble pursuits, to find satisfaction in Him above all else.

REFLECT:
What is hindering you from experiencing Jesus and the freedom He offers? Is there something you need to surrender to Him and let Him replace with a better, purer love?
