This Month’s Theme:
Getting Up Close & Personal with the King

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathise with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Reflection

Who knows you better than the one who lives in you?

Jesus chose you, and invites you to approach him without fear. If there is someone who can truly understand you, it is Him. He knows your successes and failures, joys and deepest sorrows.

If you have any doubts, remember that Jesus loves to spend time with you and listen to you. He wants to make real changes in your life and let you experience His great power.

The question is: are you close enough to hear it? Would you listen to Him?

May our hearts be so close to Him that we can say like the apostles did, “Did not our hearts burn within us as he spoke…?” (Luke 24:32).

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)

We don’t usually think of God as king, because the king figure isn’t one we’re all familiar with in modern times. Not to mention, the king is also not someone you can approach at any time, much less cosy up to.

But our God is king and close to us. He is the Sovereign Lord who rules with power over the earth (Isaiah 40:10-26) and gathers us in His arms, close to His heart (v.11).

This King, the most powerful Being in the universe, has made us His children and brought us into His fold. We can approach His throne with full confidence, knowing He will readily give the mercy and grace we so need.

Don’t waste the precious privilege you have. Go see the King today.

Some questions for you to think over:

  1. When was the last time you got really close and personal with God? What did you learn about Him and yourself?
  2. Have you ever thought about God as King? How do you think that helps you see your day-to-day life differently?
