This Month’s Theme:
Never Thirst Again

Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”

John 4:13-15

Artist’s Reflection

Abiding in the Lord has been a theme for me this past year, during lockdowns here in Melbourne (where I live). This time of isolation unexpectedly brought new connections and new growth, both in my relationship with the Lord and with other people. When I was asked to draw something on the theme of abiding, I felt drawn to this image of a bird flying joyfully over a spring of water, surrounded by growing leaves.

John 7:38 says, “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”

We’re often thirsty for something, whether it’s a new job, a bigger house, or for a relationship.  Our thirst is momentarily quenched when we achieve these things, and we soon find ourselves thirsty for other things.

But, there’s Someone who is able to quench all of our thirst, and His name is Jesus. He quenches our thirst for love, fulfilment, and security by meeting and exceeding these needs. This Spring of Living Water leaves us feeling alive, refreshed, and rejuvenated.

This month, we invite you to ponder what it means to “never thirst again” when we follow Christ. Was there a time Jesus filled you right up to overflowing even in the midst of a dry season? How does knowing Jesus is our living water fill you with fresh hope?

If you have got a story to share, we’d love to hear it! Check out our writers’ guidelines and send us your story.

Here are some subthemes to help you get started:

  • Seeking true fulfillment
  • Finding refreshment and hope
  • Quenching our weary souls
