This Month’s Theme:
Seek First His Kingdom

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Matthew 6:33

Artist’s Reflection

Matthew 6:28-31 says, “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet, I tell you that not even Solomon in all His splendour was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow thrown into the fire, will He not much more clothe you—you of little faith?”

These Bible verses are so poetic and remind us of this simple truth: We do not need to worry. Yet, I don’t often remember it—especially in times of trouble and uncertainty.

Being with God in my everyday life, listening to and following His word, is the best and purest way to live. After all, we are to seek first His kingdom, to live righteously, and rest in the knowledge that He’ll meet our every need (Matthew 6:33).

Isn’t it so wonderful to know we have a loving Father in Heaven who has promised to meet all of our needs?

Matthew 6:33 tells us that when we seek first His Kingdom and live righteously—in a right relationship with Him—He’ll give us everything we need (Matthew 6:33). It doesn’t mean that God is obliged to grant us our every wish and fancies just because we keep to our quiet time fastidiously or volunteer every spare time we have at church. The providence God gives us is tailored to our circumstances, not one that’ll allow us to keep up with the Joneses.

But He knows what we need and when we need it, and it’ll be enough for us in the here and now.

What does seeking God’s Kingdom first look like to you? How can we live in a right relationship with Him? How does knowing that God will meet your every need spur you on to live a life worthy of His name?
