Anchor in Jesus and Remain Calm

By Jude Dias, Walk The Same

Read: Psalms 18:2
“The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

Have you ever experienced turbulence in an airplane? It’s pretty scary. The plane seems to shudder, and soar and dip alternately. It is not pleasant. But what is scarier is the knowledge that this huge machine flying in the air has nothing to support it should something go wrong.

Ships face a similar predicament when the sea gets rough. But no matter how bad it gets, a ship is safe and secure when it has its anchor set. The ship will remain steady and not be tossed around.

I like to think of God being that boat with an anchor, and me being the passenger. When we choose God to be our refuge and carrier in the rough seas of life, we will always be secure in Him no matter how rough the waves of our circumstances. He is unchanging and unfailing, and He has proven this to us through His works and the amazing things that He continues to do every day.

Like the sea, life will always be unpredictable. Sometimes, things will be serene and beautiful; at other times, turbulence is all we get. When that hits us, whom we depend on will decide whether we sink or float. When our hope in this journey is anchored on Christ, we will not be shaken, no matter how hard things get.
