A psalm of my own, as inspired by Psalm 23

By Megan Low

Psalm 23:1-6

The Lord is my Shepherd, my High Priest, and King.
He supplies all that I need—everything. (Psalm 23:1)
He makes me lie down and rest in safe places.
He leads me to calm and reviving spaces. (Psalm 23:2)
My soul is refreshed and restored to its whole.
For His name’s sake, He guides me to His goal. (Psalm 23:3)

Yea, though I walk through dark trials near death,
I will fear no evil; I am not yet robbed of breath.
For Your rod and your staff protect me.
Just knowing You are nearby is enough,
The sense of Your presence comforts me.
Though shadows surround, Your great love I still see. (Psalm 23:4)

You prepare a table for me, lavish is Your providence.
I dine in security before my enemies.
I am chosen, anointed, vindicated completely.
Your blessings pour out on me is not done discreetly.
My cup overflows—You gave exceedingly, abundantly.
To whom would I go? In none else I’ll believe. (Psalm 23:5)

Your children greet me when I sit on my own.
They remind me that I am never alone.
By my name do they call, and it floods me with glee.
I am not just some person; I am who You want me to be!
At the gate of Your house I am honored by You
For Your goodness is richly shown in all that I do.

Surely goodness and mercy pursue me in a most wondrous way,
As You have been faithful and kind to me each day.
In Your house I do dwell, not just now but forever
And ever, and ever, and ever, and EVER! (Psalm 23:6)
