The Christian Run

By Rohit Chacko, India

The weather beat down hard,
But he still kept the run.
People around called him insane,
Still, he was determined to see the end—
The end of an awesome journey.

Those closest warned him
Of the imminent suffering;
Yet his faith prevailed!
To them it was just religion,
But by God’s Word he persevered.

Joy was set upon his face,
None could snatch him from God’s grace.
For his call was not from mere man,
But from Jesus, the Christ,
The slain and risen Lamb.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the Founder and Perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” –Hebrews 12:1-2 ESV

Very cool indeed! It sends out a clear message for those who are afraid to move out of their comfort zones to go and run for His cause! After all, at the end of the race – the race of life, what matters most is not what we have gotten in life, but what we have given.

Acts 13 :36 says “For when David had served his purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep and was buried along with his fore fathers.” What a great thing to have our life’s purpose accomplished on our time!

“The pursuit of God” – A.W Tozer

The man of God set his heart to exalt God above all; God accepted his intention as fact and acted accordingly. Not perfection, but holy intention made the difference.

If we set our hearts to run this race, God will take that intention and turn it to a reality strengthening and teaching us His ways till the end.
