I Was Once Like the Wind

By Michelle Amsterdam, Guyana

The wind blows to and fro
I was once like the wind
Drifting wild and aimlessly
Searching for the pieces of me

I was lost in emptiness
Buried in hopelessness
A captive of my unyielding heart
Embracing what kept me in the dark
Love and I were apart

But Truth pursued me relentlessly
In the midst of my misery
Opening my eyes to see
The wondrous depths of His love for me

Like the world I know
I was once like the wind
Drifting wild and aimlessly
Until Love came and He rescued me

“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” —Romans 5:8 NLT
