Interview: Brianna Smith

Music Video: Resist — Interview with the key team members

Brianna Smith—Lead Actress (17-year-old)

brianna_smith2 How was the project/script/song conceived?
I added the wrist-cutting scene into the script because several of my friends have that problem. I thought it would be a great way for them to see Christ.

How do you feel about being involved in this project?
Initially, I was shocked because I didn’t think I’m up to the task. But it was great to see God use the talents that I didn’t even know I have to help in this project. I was able to be a part of something bigger than me. I feel blessed.

What do you hope could be achieved through this project?
I hope God gets all the glory and that people would see this music video and be touched by God’s love.

Could you identify with the character in the song?
Well, the struggles I face are different, but I could identify with the fact that sometimes I feel alone and unwanted. But then I realize that I have God and I’m not alone. Just like the girl in the story, people were always there for her and God was there for her. However, I do know many people that have gone through everything in that story. I’ve seen them go from guy to guy, cut themselves because of depression and hurt, and then try to hide their pain.

Do you see yourself doing more of such similar projects? Why?
Yes, I do see myself doing similar projects. I learned a bunch from this project and have seen God move so fast that I would love to do something like it in the future. I want to be involved in anything I can do to

Brianna plays in her school band and she is a Color Guard. Her favorite music artistes include Tenth Avenue North, David Crowder Band, Jeff Johnson, Hillsong United, and Kari Jobe. She desires to give God glory through everything in her life and to become a 1st grade teacher. She says, “I stutter when I talk, but it makes me who I am.”
