Poem: Third Day

Third Day

Written By Reuben Teo, Singapore

A thousand years our eyes may see;
Still none lived like Him of Galilee.
Centuries cannot compare
To the seconds of His single tear.
But dead He was, and buried too,
Our King sealed in a simple tomb.
The Champion of Eternity
Had fallen; there was no gaiety.

On the third, we stood and saw
Dawn break at the tomb.
No man stirred, only Rome’s, for
Ten guards stood at the tomb.
Then
The seal broke, the ground shook
The stone was rolled away.
The guards of Rome, their posts forsook
Took to flight and fled away.

A thousand years our eyes may see;
Still none live like Him of Galilee.
Centuries cannot compare
To the sight we saw at that tomb there.
Alive He is, and honored too
Our Lord lies no more in the tomb.
The Ruler of Eternity
Has risen; let there be gaiety.
