I am . . .
Just your average guy next door.
Not someone who stands out in a crowd.
Not the guy whom you will cast a second glance.
Just a guy trying to make it in this big, wide world.
I am the guy who will borrow money with no intention of paying it back,
I am a friend who will be there on sunny days but bail out at the first sign of trouble.
I am the person who if given a job will grumble about the poor conditions while pursuing my own hobbies when I should be working.
I am the guy who is too quick to forget just how much help was accorded to him and is now “too broke” to help a brother out.
I am that friend who you are better off without. All I seem to bring is discouragement and distress.
I am that guy who fails you constantly and for much of the foreseeable future, the trend is likely to remain unchanged.
But He is . . .
The One who descended from His throne in heaven to save you and me. (Philippians 2:6-8)
He is the King of glory who chose to be born in a barn. (Luke 2:7)

He is the Redeemer who paid the ultimate price to spare you from condemnation. (Ephesians 5:2)
He is the Living God who conquered the grave. (Acts 10:39-40)
He is the Master who calls you to carry His light burden and easy yoke. (Matthew 11:28-30)
He is the Great High Priest through whom we may approach God with freedom and confidence. (Ephesians 3:12)
He is the Lamb of God through whom I am made clean. In Him, the old life is gone; a new life has begun. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
He is Jesus—my King, Savior, and Lord. He is God with us. (Matthew 1:23)
We are . . .
Called His friends because He has made known to us His Father’s plans. (John 15:15)
We are His citizens whom He has gone to prepare a place in Heaven for. (John 14:2)
We are His disciples whom He has entrusted the task of going to all nations to make others His disciples. (Matthew 28:19-20)
We are His vessels through whom He manifests His glory. (2 Corinthians 4:7)
And no matter how lost we feel, His love shall never be separated from us. (Romans 8:38-39)
For we are the children of God. (John 1:12)
You are loved.
You are His beloved.
